Post by AngelaE » Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:27 pm

[6 January 2021] The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Minister of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, will be giving the keynote speech on 26 January as part of the Electricity Storage Network (ESN) Annual Marketplace three-day event taking place on 26 - 28 January, 2021.

The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 24 July 2019, before which, he was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Exiting the European Union.

The Minister has overseen the removal of the 50 MW limit for local planning, facilitating the deployment of much larger storage projects, as well as the creation of the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio, investing millions of pounds in innovation to match the Minister’s clear commitment to longer duration storage.

Attendees to the event will hear from industry leaders and influencers, be able to join a debate on the mineral supply chain, judge the latest in storage innovation, see National Grid’s control room in action and have access to on-demand content.

The ESN is a membership organisation, committed to creating an environment in which storage can flourish, ensuring that regulations and markets work for all types of storage, without favouring one particular technology. Established in 2008 as the UK industry group dedicated to electricity storage, it includes a broad range of electricity storage technologies and members, such as electricity storage manufacturers and suppliers, project developers, users, electricity network operators, consultants, academic institutions, and research organisations.
