Ofgem: Consultation to review the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme

Post by AngelaE » Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:23 pm

On 11 February 2021, a consultation was opened on the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme (the Redress Scheme). The consultation closed on 14 April 2021.

The Redress Scheme was established in 2017, and has been operated by our service provider, the Energy Saving Trust.

The purpose of the Redress Scheme is to use redress payments to support energy consumers, particularly vulnerable energy consumers, through energy-based projects or schemes run by charities.

The consultation sought views from stakeholders on the current processes in place for the Redress Scheme, to ensure that redress payments deliver the maximum benefit for Great Britain’s energy consumers.

35 responses to the consultation were received. The non-confidential responses have been published on the Ofgem website.

Having carefully considered the responses to the consultation, it is intended to widen eligibility to the scheme’s Decarbonisation and Innovation Funds. We plan to welcome applications to these funds from Community Interest Groups, Co-operative Societies and Community Benefit Societies from 2022.

Further details can be found in the decision document. Please visit: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-a ... ess-scheme for further information.
