Outdated ban on new onshore wind could cost £1 Billion

A report from the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) has suggested that the UK government's unwritten promise of 'no subsidies' for onshore wind is blocking the cheapest form of electricity generation that can be built in the UK.

In the report - titled Blown Away - ECIU highlights reasons why the government might like to review the de facto ban on onshore wind power, given that "building onshore wind costs no more than not building it".
