Many people missed out on the chance to register on 7th February due to unprecedented high demand to attend the ECO/GD Briefing events DECC are holding to coincide with the publication of the ECO consultation which is expected to be published on the 17th February. Registration was closed within hours of opening on the first day. However, if you missed the opportunity to attend then this is you chance to have to have your say.
Do you have examples of large scale hard-to-treat homes schemes that were on the cusp of being delivered in the worst LSOA and are now being curtailed because ECO funding levels are insufficient?
Proposed hard-to-treat homes ECO funded projects continue to be cancelled around the country as a result of the Changes to the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding announced by Government in the Autumn Statement in December 2013, and further subsequent announcements including the proposal to award energy companies carbon uplifts on measures completed in Q1.
Have your say on the DECC blog site, click on Changes to the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation and tell DECC about your cancelled hard-to-treat homes projects. http://blog.decc.gov.uk/2013/12/04/chan ... bligation/
It is essential that DECC be made aware of cancelled hard-to-treat ECO funded projects and of the effects this will have on families living in cold damp hard-to-treat homes on their energy bills and costs to the NHS in relation to cold related illnesses/deaths which will still go on rising.
Include where possible information on the following:
• Project location
• Types of homes (for example, uneven cavity stone built homes, homes in flood risk areas, etc)
• Number of hard-to-treat homes and value of scheme
• Partners involved including local authority, Housing Association, Funders, etc
• Reasons for cancellation?
• How much notice of cancellation was given?
We have also been lobbying MPs hard for their support against the proposed changes to ECO funding of hard-to-treat homes since the changes were announced and need your support to drive the message home.
Write directly to your local MP and tell him about your concerns
To find your MP, click on http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/
Thank you, in anticipation of your support.
